Joshua is raising this fundraiser for Eric Elam, a friend he met while filming a documentary in Pacific Beach, San Diego. For the past 12 years, Eric has shown up on the Pacific Beach boardwalk every single evening to make giant bubbles for complete strangers. In that time, Eric has brought joy to thousands of people. Children run through the bubbles, families stop to take photos, and strangers pause in the middle of their day just to watch. One person even told Eric that the bubbles saved their life. What many people do not see, though, is that after sharing that joy with the community, Eric has had nowhere to go home to. Eric has been homeless for 11 years, and a back injury limits the ability to work.

Even with those challenges, Eric keeps showing up. The bubbles are more than a performance. They are the thing that keeps Eric going, and in Eric’s own words, without the bubbles, Eric does not know where life would be. Now Joshua is asking the community to show up for someone who has shown up for so many others. How funds will help: every dollar raised will go directly toward helping Eric get off the streets and into stable housing, so Eric can have safety, stability, and the chance to keep doing what is loved for years to come.
