Help Equip Calumet's Growing Community Boxing Class

Calumet and the surrounding communities are hungry for hyper-local self-defense classes. That's what I quickly found out after getting my USA Boxing certificate this past June. My name is Brendon Stutzman. For the last few months, I've been offering a simple, fun, and challenging boxing class outdoors in Agassiz Park in the village of Calumet. This class has largely been promoted through word of mouth. It didn't take long to grow the class into a dedicated following.

With the rapid growth of the class and the inevitable winter weather around the corner, we've been searching for an indoor space to host our boxing club.

We are working with the Village of Calumet and will likely be moving into the "Drill Shop" after the cool season farmer's market is finished using the space around the end of November.

We are seeking crowd-sourced funding for gear/equipment and future rents. Our class is not a business. This is nitty-gritty community martial arts. I seek no profit for sharing my knowledge and experience in martial arts. Most of the gear we use has come out-of-pocket from my personal funds. We do have an optional donation request of $5 or $10 per class, which has helped pay for some of the gear. We would use our funding goal of $1000 to purchase equipment for new stations for circuit training so we will be able to accommodate larger classes.

It is my personal mission to grow the martial arts community here in the Keweenaw. I believe martial arts is for EVERYONE. I want to create a safe and welcoming training space for whomever walks through the door.
