Help Protect Accountability and demand trust and accountability from our City Council and City Staff. Taxpayers should have a say in how their tax dollars are spent, and demand a full, transparent, equitable process for zoning changes, public works projects and fiscal responsibility. Responsible Bainbridge is comprised of dedicated volunteers who care and care deeply about Bainbridge Island. In funding the SEPA appeal, it is about accountability, transparency and following the proper rules and procedures that every project, affordable or not, City owned or not, should undergo. It is about demanding that our elected officials are not driven by money, false testimony, funding and grandeur, but that they work for the City and the people.

Responsible Bainbridge, a WA nonprofit corporation, is taking a stand for governmental transparency, environmental stewardship, proper public participation and community advocacy. We have already accomplished so much and we continue to be energized by overwhelming community support! All donated dollars go toward legal council for the SEPA appeal and ongoing advocacy.

We support Affordable Housing. We support sound fiscal management and transparancy.

The City of Bainbridge Island must complete the Groundwater Management Plan prior to completing or making any decisions on updating the Comprehensive Plan.

Why SEPA Review Matters
The State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) exists to protect communities from rushed development. It requires a transparent, rigorous review of environmental impacts before major decisions are made. And it demands that proper process is followed. We are working to demand that City Council honor SEPA, proper Procurement policies and engage meaningfully with the public. Moving forward, SEPA and Environmental Impact Study will be crucial for the Comprehensive Plan, and we will work to insure City Staff and City Council address all concerns with careful analysis, precautionary principles and fiscal accountability.

Join the Fight for Bainbridge
A local citizen filed a formal SEPA appeal to challenge the City’s DNS (designation of environmental nonsignificance). This process significantly delayed the LIHI 625 Project for at least one year, and in the process exposed a host of alarming practices. In addition, Responsible Bainbridge has built a community of people who care and who want to be engaged!
