Help Ensure a Bright Future for Deputy Chief Labonte's Kids

We are heartbroken to share that Wrentham Deputy Police Chief George Labonte, 44, a beloved figure in Wrentham, Massachusetts, recently passed away after a courageous eight-year battle with medullary thyroid cancer. George was more than an energetic public servant; he was a devoted husband, a loving father, son, brother, and a true friend to all who knew him.

George's life was a testament to selflessness and strength. Even as he faced his own health challenges, he remained dedicated to his family and community, raising funds for pediatric cancer research during his own battle. His beloved wife, Katie, stood by his side every step of the way, embodying the same resilience and love that defined George's life. Together, they built a beautiful family with four wonderful young children—Sadie, Benji, Jacqueline, and Julian.

While we can't bring George back, we hope to ease the burden of worrying about future education and immediate, unforeseen financial needs as Katie and the children navigate life without him. In response to the many who have asked how you can help, a group of George’s closest friends and members of the Wrentham community have come together to establish a 529 college savings plan for each of the Labonte children. At present, the average in-state student attending a public four-year institution and living on campus spends $27,146 for one academic year. This GoFundMe campaign will provide the initial funds to kickstart these accounts, helping to ensure that George’s children have the educational opportunities he always dreamed of for them. Friends and family will continue to invest in the 529 plans annually.
