My name is Enrique, and I’m a Mexican dreamer and artist on a mission to share the music and culture of my heritage. I’m applying for my artist visa for the first time, and while my previous visa was made possible by the beautiful community of friends I have in LA, this time I tried my best to cover the costs myself. Unfortunately, I’ve come to the sad reality that the only way to get my visa processed is by paying for expedited processing, as normal processing is pretty much frozen according to my lawyers.
This visa is more than just paperwork—it’s the key to continuing my journey as 'escuby,' my artist project. As a DJ, I see the impact when I play the music of our heritage in the US. People light up, singing along to the classics that live in the back of their minds, and together we create spaces to celebrate Latin American music, even when it’s not always easy to find a place for it. I want to keep bringing the Mexican party everywhere, helping our community feel seen and connected through music.
Honestly, any little thing helps. My time in LA showed me how powerful support and friendship can be, and I carry those lessons with me now that I’m back in Mexico City. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps me stay connected with the amazing people I’ve met and those I hope to meet on this journey. Thank you for believing in me and for helping keep this dream alive.
