I grew up in the vibrant and chaotic world of the carnival, a life that meant constant movement and change. Every year brought a new school, a new environment, and the inevitable conflicts that came with trying to fit into ever-changing surroundings. Amid this instability, one constant grounded me: boxing. My father, a former fighter and military boxing instructor, began training me from as far back as I can remember.
Life in the carnival wasn't easy. The instability of my upbringing led to countless physical confrontations, many of which were life-or-death situations. By the time I turned 16, I received a Martial Arts program as a birthday gift, which ignited a new passion in me. From there, I began blending my boxing foundation with martial arts training. This combination quickly became my edge. I competed fiercely, becoming nationally ranked in semi-contact karate and switching between boxing and martial arts competitions. Along the way, I earned state, regional, and national titles, setting the stage for my professional career.
As my skills sharpened, I transitioned into instructing. I opened a couple of karate studios, sharing my knowledge and empowering others to achieve their best. Even as I built my career as a teacher, I continued competing. My boxing abilities set me apart in the martial arts world, where refined hand techniques were often underdeveloped. Climbing the ranks quickly, I eventually became the number-one contender globally and fought for the World Title twice. Although victory eluded me both times, the experiences were invaluable.
My journey to the top wasn’t without setbacks. Growing up in the carnival environment instilled in me a disregard for the law, leading to choices that landed me in prison. This chapter of my life was transformative. Inside, I faced death head-on, surviving two assassination attempts by the Aryan Brotherhood with only minor injuries. Prison forced me to reevaluate my life. I began college, took on leadership roles within the community, and committed to a new path. I realized that nothing illegal is worth the cost of freedom.
The trials of my life—from the carnival to the boxing ring, from prison to personal redemption—shaped the person I am today. Now, I dedicate my time to helping my community. I work in the service industry, installing security systems, doing electrical work, setting up camera systems, and handling various handyman tasks. In my spare time, I channel my creativity into crafting and selling handmade wooden furniture and other creations. My journey has taught me resilience, discipline, and the value of freedom, all of which I carry into everything I do.
It has always been in the back of my mind that there was something important for me to do in life. With my experiences with law enforcement, business, and just trying to survive day to day, I've realized—as I'm sure you know as well—there is way too much government in our lives. The things going on today are the very reasons this country was founded to begin with: too much government and no accountability. My goal is to make our government more serving than power-driven. We are supposed to be the rulers, and the government is supposed to serve us, providing for us. The Constitution was drawn up with this in mind—a government for the people, by the people. Unfortunately, it has strayed far from this ideal. I aim to help bring it back to its roots.
Qualified immunity must be abolished. That will be the starting point of getting our hands back on the reins. Only then can we hold public servants truly accountable and begin reshaping a government that genuinely serves its people.
Why is it that every profession in the world requires liability insurance to do business, yet our government relies on citizens to pay for their mistakes and blatant, careless disregard for the law? Lawmakers and enforcers who don’t know the law or break it without consequence speed at will, kill at will, abuse their authority, and fall back on qualified immunity. This systemic failure is a direct affront to the principles of accountability and justice that should guide our nation. It’s time for a change.
Here’s what needs to happen: Qualified immunity needs to be abolished for all government officials, especially the police. Individual law enforcement officers of all ranks should be required to obtain liability insurance, as should police headquarters. When these individuals or stations lose the ability to secure insurance due to claims against them, they should be decertified as law enforcement officers and permanently barred from serving in that capacity. Additionally, they must be held accountable for the actions that caused their inability to acquire insurance. These individuals should face imprisonment and suffer personal financial consequences for their misconduct. No longer shall society bear the burden of the ego-driven, power-hungry, short-man complexed, blue line of tyranny.
