Hi, my name is Esther Bitijula, student from Luther College. This summer I will be doing a Project for Peace which aims to empower women with physical disabilities in Bukavu, DRCongo.
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, over 10.5 million people live with disabilities, facing significant challenges due to societal stigmas and lack of opportunities. Women with disabilities, especially, are marginalized, lacking access to education, healthcare, and economic independence. This transformative project aimed at empowering these women through education, vocational training, and entrepreneurship. Collaborating with Maman Shujaa, we will provide comprehensive support to break stereotypes, enhance skills, and foster self-esteem among these women.
Your support will directly impact the lives of marginalized women, enabling them to become self-sufficient, active members of society. By contributing, you are promoting inclusivity, supporting education, and advocating for the rights of women with disabilities.
With your help, we will:
- Conduct mental health and entrepreneurship seminars
- Provide vocational training in sewing and other skills
- Supply school uniforms to 90 kindergarten students
- Promote peace and inclusivity in the community
