Help Empower Teenage Mothers in Uganda Through Tailoring

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

I am currently volunteering in a rural village in Butaleja District, Uganda, with the Universal Health and Development Foundation (UHDF). Every day, I meet inspiring young women and teenage mothers who are doing everything they can to care for their children — yet most lack access to stable income, education, or job opportunities.

That’s why we launched:
The Tailoring Micro-Enterprise Project

How It Started vs. How It’s Growing
Our initial goal was to train and equip 15 young mothers with hands-on tailoring skills and tools to help them generate a stable income.

Thanks to the amazing support we received, we surpassed that goal and were able to start training 20 women right away!

But something unexpected happened — many more teenage mothers expressed interest in the training, especially those living in even more remote areas who couldn’t afford transport to the original training site.

So, with the momentum we had, we made the bold decision to open a second training site, closer to these underserved communities.

This second site will allow us to train 16 additional girls, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 36.

Why Tailoring?
In rural Uganda, tailoring is one of the most practical and sustainable livelihoods. It empowers women to:
✔ Make and sell school uniforms and local clothing
✔ Work from home while caring for their children
✔ Gain financial independence and social dignity

What’s Still Needed
To make this expansion possible, we need to raise just 493 € more to fully fund the second site and support the remaining 16 girls.

How Your Donation Helps:
  • 10 € = Thread, scissors, and sewing tools
  • 25 € = Meals and refreshments during training
  • 50 € = Full tailoring training + starter kit for one young mother
  • 1 900 € = Complete the second training site and support all 36 participants

100% of your donation goes directly to the project and its participants. I’m personally managing it with the UHDF team on the ground, and I’ll continue sharing updates and photos along the way — so you can see exactly where your support is going.

Thank you for believing in this vision and helping us grow it beyond what we imagined.
Let’s transform 36 futures — one sewing machine at a time.
