Hello, we are HELP Community Violence Intervention Youth Mentoring Program. We are a 501c3-pending program, whose focus is to reduce gun-related violence in the Saginaw Community. We engage high-risk youth with great intentionality, showing them they are loved, have value, and are important to the Saginaw community. We are raising funds to continue the work we have been so successful at doing with engaging and protecting our community youth.
We have received some grant dollars, but those dollars are cost-reimbursement dollars that must be spent first, and then are reimbursed. We have immediate needs for our youth mentoring and 1st responders crime intervention arms of our programs.
We started as men in the community who were fed up with the violence that plagued our streets. We began mentoring boys and young men ages 12 to 22. Our impact was seen immediately by the number of single-parent mothers, grandmothers, schools, and government agencies who began to seek out our services. We have now welcomed women to be able to address the needs of all youth. Our goal is to suffocate the pipeline that feeds gangs and street violence, by being consistent forces in the lives of our youth. We believe "Consistency over time builds trust".
Since our inception, we have formed amazing partnerships to aid in stopping violence in the Saginaw Community including the Saginaw Police Department, Department of Health and Human Services, Saginaw County Juvenile Court, Saginaw YMCA, MOMS Demand Action, and so many other community organizations.
HELP us make our community a safer place to live, recreate, and plan for an amazing future. Crime intervention must be seen through a Public Health lens. Everyone must play a part. We are on the front line, your financial support is vital to our success in saving our youth!
