Help Emily’s Recovery & Support Her Family

After welcoming her newborn son, my sister-in-law Emily was filled with hope and excitement—until her recovery took a frightening turn that no new mother should ever have to face. After the birth, she was initially sent home after receiving antibiotics for a uterine lining infection, but once home, she realized she was not getting better—in fact, things were getting much worse. A few days later, she ended up going to the ER and was diagnosed with a more serious infection that, unfortunately, had led to sepsis. Emily almost lost her life as a result. She has been hospitalized for weeks, undergoing emergency surgery to remove all areas affected by the infection. As a result of these infections, Emily also suffered a collapsed lung and is still struggling to breathe on her own due to fluid buildup around her lungs. She needs ongoing wound care from her surgery and constant oxygen support, and remains in the hospital as she fights to recover.

This has been an incredibly difficult time for Emily and her family. She has three small children who she has barely been able to hold in weeks. She is praying to come home soon, but due to her surgery and lung complications, Emily will not be able to care for her children on her own right away. The road to recovery will take months, and she is unable to work or provide care for her children for at least the next three months. The financial strain is overwhelming, as her family faces mounting household expenses and the cost of childcare while she remains hospitalized and as she transitions home. Emily will be coming home soon with a wound vac and oxygen to continue her recovery.

Please consider donating to help support Emily's family during this challenging time. Your generosity will make a meaningful difference, allowing her to focus on healing and ensuring her children are cared for while she recovers, both in the hospital and at home.
