My name is Emily, and I’m reaching out for support as I recover from chickenpox and do everything I can to take care of my 10-year-old child, Vee. In May, Vee had a relapse of Childhood Nephrotic Syndrome, a rare kidney disease. The last several months have been tough.
I have gotten used to our finances being challenged by having to take unpaid time off work to get Vee necessary medical care. Vee’s condition has put us through a rollercoaster of emergency medical events between relapses and remissions since the summer of 2016. To be out of work for a minimum of two weeks due to my own illness compounds my struggle and it feels impossible and overwhelming.
I need help now because the last four months of treatments to help Vee back into remission have not worked. The nephrologist is scheduling a kidney biopsy to determine what to try next, which means more hospital time in our near future. Your help will make this next step much easier for us. The costs of treatments, medications, and basic necessities quickly add up, and I can’t keep up. I chose a goal of $4,800 because it represents two months of our house payment, which is the largest expense in our budget. Your help can bring us current with our house payment for this month and lift pressure off of me for next month’s payment as well.
Every donation, no matter the amount, will help us get through this difficult period. It will allow me to catch up on bills, help me heal and support me to continue ensuring that Vee gets care and stability needed to reach remission. If you’re unable to contribute financially, sharing our story with your network would also mean so much to us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, support, and encouragement.
With gratitude,
Emily
