Help Ellyn and Family Through Cancer Battle

Donation protected
Meet Michael, Ellyn, and Benji Barford. Ellyn is my ever so sweet 33 year old niece, loving wife of Michael, doting mother to little Benji. Michael and Ellyn have been married for 9 years; despite gynecological issues resulting in being told she may never have children, Ellyn gave birth to their precious miracle baby Michael Benjamin on October 29th, 2023.

In April of this year, Ellyn had been treated for pneumonia, which left her with a chronic cough and worsening shortness of breath. Doctors were baffled as numerous tests and scans were performed to identify the cause of Ellyns symptoms. Scans had revealed suspicious findings, however findings repeatedly came back inconclusive.

In May of this year, Ellyn’s precious mother Pam was diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer. Pamela lost her battle with cancer and passed away the evening of Sunday, September 1st, 2024.

September 3rd, only two days after losing her mother, Ellyn was admitted to the hospital following a repeat CT scan which revealed a large amount of fluid on her left lung. Ellyn underwent a thoracentesis to drain the fluid and labs were pending in hopes to finally provide answers for Ellyn and her family.

Tuesday, September 10th, Ellyn received the devastating news that malignant cells were present and a diagnosis of Stage IV lung cancer was given. Having presented in an advanced stage of cancer, treatment needs to begin immediately to provide the best possible outcome for Ellyn.

There are many unforeseen days ahead. Days full of uncertainty as Michael and Ellyn navigate the course of this news and how their lives will be drastically changed. With this news comes many expenses, medically related expenses as well as sustaining their livelihood through this uncharted territory. The search for the best possible treatment for Ellyn’s newfound condition is currently in progress, which could potentially include a lot of traveling. Words can not express the appreciation of any and all financial support you are able and willing to provide during this overwhelming time in this family’s life.

The family covets all prayers as we lean into God like never before throughout these trying times. We believe that He alone is sovereign and faithful, and He knows our needs even before we can speak them.
