The story of Ella Rose
(from mom)
I had a subchorionic hematoma when I was pregnant starting at 6 weeks. My water broke at 21 weeks and I was hospitalized for 3 weeks on bed rest. After the 3 weeks she came! She was born at 24 weeks (4 months early) and she was 1.7 pounds. This was the scariest day of our lives. She was immediately taken away from us and placed in an incubator and we began our NICU journey. She was intubated for two weeks and then went on cpap. Her skin was not ready for it so the skin on her nasal septum broke down which made her have to be re intubated until her last couple weeks of NICU. This was only the beginning of the horrific stories I have, thinking she wasn’t going to make it through the day. She was in the NICU for 4 months and then finally got to come home with us. There were ups and downs in the NICU, mostly downs, but she stayed fighting and made it out! She came home with a g-button tube to feed her through, and oxygen through the nose. She is now 1 year old (8 months developmentally) and THRIVING!! After this year now that she is healthy we really want to take her to see the ocean. She hasn’t been anywhere great yet because of the fear of her health, but she is now perfectly healthy and we just know she would enjoy the beach so much. She is the happiest baby I’ve ever seen despite all she has been through. We are so beyond proud of our special girl!
