Elaine Buchanan is a 97 year old retired nurse from Jamaica who is part of the windrush era. Elaine had worked in the United Kingdom for fifty plus years for the NHS sometimes doing two shifts night and day to provide for her 8 children 3 of whom she had to leave in Jamaica and hoped to send for them. Her daughter remembers her crying and not knowing why but now it all makes sense, leaving your children is unthinkable.

Elaine was able through hard work to return to Jamaica finally at nearly 80years old arthritis was debilitating in the cold weather but on reaching the sun she was fortunately more mobile. She had a few years of recovery and joy, unfortunately her age was against her and other health issues arose. Her youngest daughter is her full time carer and moved from the UK with her now two children to the beautiful country that has brutal weather at times and an unknowing family is now in dire need of help.

Having survived 3 hurricanes, this last one Melissa was devastating and left them near homelessness. Continued deterioration of the property as rain continues to fall and the cooler times are not drying out the walls or floors having no roof and night rain is causing irreparable damage. The roof blew off in its entirety and damaged vehicles so there is no transport to hospital in an emergency situation or to do everyday chores.

A lady who came to a new country in her early twenties, worked contributed and invested in another country for so many decades who can no longer walk but keeps her spirits up and is going for the Century is in real need.

The roof flew off of the house and damaged brand new solar water heater. We desperately need a generator, at 97 years old with dementia the dark and the quiet can be triggering, also seeing all the devastation is confusing.
