Help Eddy Tay Fight Cancer with Urgent Care

Hello, my name is Gladys Tay. I am asking for the cooperation of the community. I am the sole guardian/sister of my brother Eddy Tay. Eddy is currently a sophmore at Wakefield High School. On 01/14/2025, Dr. John Feigert diagnosed my brother Eddy with stage 2 cancer. Eddy had emergency surgery on 01/15/25 hoping to remove the cancer. The surgery was performed but with further testing, the doctors have determined that the cancer was not fully removed.

Sadly, we have no option to treat Eddy in the local DMV area. We were able to find a specialist- Dr. Joel Sheinfeld at Sidney Kimmel Center(New York) who has accepted to take Eddys case. Eddy is scheduled to have a second surgery (RPLND)

on 03/28/25 in New York. Thankfully, Eddy’s surgery will be covered 100% by his healthplan, but we have been told that we are to remain in the New York area for at least 1 month due to the follow ups and ongoing treatments.

Due to Eddys extensive healthissues, Eddy cannot attend school in person. At the moment he is learning virtually from home. He has always been a top student and very responsible. Eddy would attend school full time making great grades and had a part time job at Silver Diner to help me with our expenses. We both have had no choice but to quit our jobs and stay home and care for Eddy. At the moment this is the best decision we have made because we have faith in God that Eddy will recovery from these surgeries/treatments and will be able to see a promising future.

We are aiming to raise $20,000 to alleviate the substantial financial stress that we have been facing due to Eddys urgent medical treatment and to provide essential family support during this challenging time.

Funding will go towards:

• Medical treatments and procedures not fully covered by insurance

• Ongoing rehabilitation expenses

• Household expenses during treatments and recovery

• Meals

• Rent

• Unexpected extra costs

We are hoping to lift some financial burden so that we can focus on Eddy’s health which is our main focus.
