Hi my name is Elisiana, I am the daughter of Durai Silva. My mom, who is six months pregnant with her fourth baby, suffered from a Stroke at 35 years old. A restful day turn into an eventful night. Concern for mom and baby the paramedics got her to the hospital as fast as they could. When she arrived, doctors were waiting for labs to come back to rule out preeclampsia. Ruling out preeclampsia they decided to hold her in the ICU.

The next morning, My dad arrived at the hospital to see her more responsive and trying to communicate. However they were still watching her high blood pressure and baby. A few hours went by and they noticed protein in her urine and watched her blood pressure increase. This means she was showing signs of preeclampsia. Her doctor made the decision to transfer her to a hospital that has a high risked specialized team to take care of a situation, if needed. By transferring her, it takes her three hours away from where we live.

Arriving at the new hospital, she remained stable so we decided to get a hotel and get some rest. Early morning, my dad received a call saying that it was getting too dangerous for my mom to remain pregnant. So they gave my mom a steroid that would give the baby a better chance if and when they would deliver.

Due to the unforeseen circumstances my mom will have to stay in the hospital for a while, for multiple reasons. Because of the effects from the stroke that my mom endured, she will need speech therapy along with physical therapy. When they deliver the baby he will need to remain in the hospital’s NICU until baby has fully developed and can reach the goals of the hospital program. Not sure when that will be due to the fact that he’s only 25 weeks but measures to be 21 weeks. My dad wanting to be by her side, takes him away from working as much as he’s needed to.

Update… Because of the trama from the stroke, my mom’s brain now is swollen. They are trying to contain it. Due to that we are going to be here longer than we thought. Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way.
