Help D’Sean get a wheelchair accessible vehicle

Donation protected
Hi,

My Name is Naomi, I truly appreciate your interest of support.

My Son D’Sean, excited to turn 14 this year in March, was born with a rare genetic disease DMD (Duchenne muscular dystrophy). It is a condition that degenerates every muscle in the body into irreversible scar tissue resulting in the loss of body function and mobility, and respiratory and cardiovascular complications. The lung and heart muscles are massively impacted along with every single muscle in his body. It’s heart breaking as I type this that sadly there is no cure to this debilitating disease which leads to a considerably reduced life expectancy that will eventually take our beautiful boys life in his early 20’s.

D’Sean loves music, electronics, sand, cleaning electronics, video gaming, tinkering, being outdoors, loves seeing his family, funny cat videos, Pringles, KitKats and Chocolate Milk. He has a beautiful smile that lights up every room he enters, has an infectious laugh, is cheeky and loves to joke and prank. He is perfectly him, and all I ever wish is that he had the ability to live his life to the fullest.

D’Sean also has Intellectual Disability, Speech and Language delay, Behaviour Problems, Vitamin D deficiency and is currently awaiting ADOS assessment for Autism Spectrum Disorder.

He is now confined to his wheelchair full time, and is in need of a wheelchair accessible vehicle that can accommodate his motorised wheelchair so that he can attend specialist and hospital appointments, family events, special occasions and other activities out in the community.

Due to not having access to a suitable vehicle it’s affecting his quality of life that he is unable to partake in any community events he loved attending, rescheduled appointments due to transportation issues as he cannot use public transportation due to his Intellectual Disability having many sensory issues, that public transportation is too overwhelming for him.

While NDIS do thankfully provide much needed support and services that I really do appreciate; they do not provide wheelchair access vehicles, and our family cannot afford a vehicle to suit NDIS requirements of a vehicle no longer than 5 years old to have it modified into a wheelchair accessible vehicle, as a van is needed with extra seats to accommodate his siblings. Having a wheelchair accessible vehicle will tremendously improve his quality of life and well-being.

So we’re reaching out to the public community for much needed support, please help D’Sean fulfil the quality of life he deserves with funding towards a wheelchair accessible vehicle so that he can continue to live a relatively normal life, can spend time out in the community, attend his needed appointments and have the better ability to visit friends and families.

We will truly appreciate your much needed support, Even if you spend as little as $5.00, if you’re unable to donate please share this to your family and friends, Thank You!

The money will go towards a second-hand wheelchair accessible bus, large enough to accommodate his other siblings and suitable needs.
