The children of Yemen have endured civil war, airstrikes, immense poverty and disease over the past few years. Children in orphanages have suffered especially and have sadly been forgotten during this turbulent time. One of the orphanages that has suffered in particular is the Al-Shawkani Foundation for Orphan Care in Sana'a. Donations have significantly decreased as a result of the current situation and the increasingly struggling population. In addition, the Al-Shawkani orphanage is located nearby to where numerous air strikes have taken place, which has meant that in addition to the children's already difficult circumstances, they have had to live in constant fear for years. Despite the continuous hard work of the orphanages and local volunteers to provide the children with most of their basic needs, they still need our support.
My goal is to gift each child at the the Al-Shawkani orphanage a new outfit to wear on Eid. I want to help bring some joy and excitement to their lives and to remind them that they are loved and that we are thinking of them.
The average cost of a child's outfit is just £10.00 (which includes shoes) - so by donating £10.00 you will be providing a child with a head to toe, complete outfit to wear on Eid.
There are approximately 250 children currently residing at the Al-Shawkani orphanage which means that if we make £2,500, every child gets a new outfit.
See below link for more information on the Al-Shawkani orphanage:

Once the children receive their outfits, I will make sure to get some photographs of the children in their new clothes to share with you as a thank you for your kindness and generosity :)
Feel free to donate as much or as little as you choose. Any amount is hugely appreciated.
**UPDATE** Due to the overwhelming support this has received so far, I have increased our target to £10,000 and will put the additional funds towards the general maintenance of the orphanage, buying toys/school supplies/personal items for the orphans and buying Eid clothes for the children at refugee camps in Sana'a.
Let's try and bring some happiness into their lives.
