My brother Spencer spent his life helping others heal — and now he needs help to survive.
If you knew Dr. Spencer before illness stole so much from him, you knew someone extraordinary: kind, hilarious, generous, and always the one people leaned on. He is only 54, but he’s now battling a serious and worsening medical crisis — and he urgently needs 24/7 care and a safe place to live.
Spencer graduated from Parker College of Chiropractic, where he was loved and respected — the funny guy in the talent shows, the one everyone remembered. Spencer is also the grandson of Ray Montgomery, one of the original founders of the Suicide & Crisis Prevention Center in Dallas and a long-time Dallas philanthropist. Spencer inherited that legacy of helping people in their darkest moments — and he truly lived it.
Over the years, Spencer endured major trauma, including multiple concussions, a childhood drowning incident, and a devastating car accident with serious brain injury.
Due to a combination of complex neurological, psychiatric, and physical conditions, he cannot be safely left alone.
The Other Emergency: His Home
Because of his cognitive decline and medical instability, Spencer’s home has become severely damaged, unsafe, and unlivable. Necessary repairs and restoration may exceed $200,000, or we may need alternative safe housing.
Spencer has only SSDI and Medicare, which do not come close to covering what is truly needed.
His wife, Connie, has cared for him faithfully for more than a decade — but Spencer’s needs have become more than one person can carry alone.
How Your Donation Will Help:
Funds raised will go toward:
- 24/7 caregiving support (in-home care, respite, or safe placement)
- Neurology/psychiatry/endocrine evaluation and testing
- Critical home restoration or safe alternative housing
We are sharing Spencer’s story carefully to protect his dignity and privacy, but please know this:
He is still Spencer — a beloved son, brother, Christian, and friend — worthy of safety, comfort, and excellent care.
If you can donate, we are deeply grateful. If you can share, thank you.
And if you pray — please pray for healing and protection for Spencer, and strength for Connie.
With love and gratitude,
Connie, Shari & Family
