Our names are Maryam Kurmi and Phoebe Kurmi-Lystrom and we are raising funds for our uncle, Dr. Ishaya Dangiwa, a 73-year-old retired Veterinarian and missionary who urgently needs life-saving heart surgery in Nigeria.

Dr. Ishaya has been battling dilated cardiomyopathy since 2018, a serious condition that weakens the heart’s ability to pump blood. While medication helped for a while, his health has drastically deteriorated in the past 8 months. He now suffers from severe heart failure (NYHA Class IV) with symptoms even at rest, including breathlessness, swelling, and extreme fatigue.

A recent echocardiogram revealed:

• Ejection Fraction (EF): 25% (normal is >50%)

• Severe mitral valve regurgitation

• Pulmonary hypertension

• Impending blood clot (thrombus) in the heart

• High risk of sudden cardiac death

He has been referred for Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy with Defibrillator (CRTD) — a specialized device implantation that could save his life. Unfortunately, the procedure is costly and must be done urgently.
