After years of enduring emotional abuse from her estranged husband, Aerion Winters, Doris found herself in a moment of overwhelming fear and desperation. That night, Aerion, intoxicated and aggressive, forced his way into her home, began verbally attacking her 76-year-old mother, and hurled hateful slurs. When Doris tried to protect her family, Aerion’s rage turned toward her. In a panic and out of fear, Doris fired a shot in his direction.

This act committed in the heat of the moment and after years of abuse was never meant to end a life. Doris is devastated and heartbroken over the outcome. She deeply regrets what happened and is now facing legal battles that no one should have to face alone.
