Help Dorchester Artists Recover Losses

Hi, we are the artists & creative small businesses of Humphreys Street Studios, an artist community in Uphams Corner, Dorchester. Earlier this year, our main building suffered a water pipe bursting, causing severe damage to our 10 basement studios. Although insurance covered the building repair, our artists lost a significant amount of artwork, supplies & materials.

We’re asking the community for support for them, so they can replace what they’ve lost and move forward. Any donation is welcomed and appreciated. The first 50 donations of $50 or more will also receive an art print by an HSS artist. We will make arrangements for you to pick it up at HSS or we can mail it for $7.50 please add to your donation).

In 2022, after a four-year preservation campaign, Humphreys Street Studios (HSS) became majority artist-owned/operated as affordable artist workspaces in perpetuity. Through a wonderful partnership between the artists, New Atlantic Development, and the City of Boston, the 40+ workspaces were preserved. Through that advocacy, The #ARTSTAYSHERE Coalition was born, to help other artist communities at risk of displacement.
