My nine year old Dominic, and his mom crossed the U.S border on June 17th seeking political asylum due to the violence and poverty that has consumed Honduras. During the intake process, a day after they crossed, Dominic and his mom were separated and placed in two different detention centers. We believe he is in McAllen, Texas and his mom is in San Antonio. The family has very little information on them.
I have spoken to his mom once while in custody and she sounded so desperate and broken . She said ICE officers told her they needed to be interviewed separately and she refused to let go of Dominic as he grabbed her around her waist and she held him tightly. She said one officer ripped Dominic from her arms as another pulled her from him as they both cried and screamed. They then shackled her feet with chains and moved her to another place as she screamed at the officers telling them that what they had done was kidnapping.
As of today, 7/11/18, they are STILL SEPARATED
We are aware that there are organizations out there that are trying to help at no cost (i.e., RAISES), but we are growing desperate as these free or pro bono immigration lawyers are faced with thousands of cases of parents trying to reunite with their kids and families at the border.
I am trying to raise money to help retain a lawyer, two airplane tickets we will need to purchase, if and when they are released, and clothes, shoes, food, and other basic necessities that they will need upon their release (they literally entered the country with nothing but the clothes on their back which was exchanged for prison clothes, which is what they wear when released). I know that there are tons of others things they will need when they are released but the priority are plane tickets and a lawyer that can fight a good case that can lead to their release.
I have never done anything like this before and I am incredibly humbled by those of you that encouraged me to start a crowd funding page.
Please give any amount that you can, if you can't, please keep them in your prayers and if prayer is not your thing, please be kind to everyone you see and encounter, especially members of the immigrant community wherever you live.
If it's easier for you or feel more comfortable, you can also just VENMO me at Cindy-Bb.
Thank you all in advanced. I promise that 100% of the money that is donated will go towards Dominic and his mom and anything related to their release and livelihood.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
If you donate or know anyone who donated, please send me your and their address on any media platform you accessed this campaign on. I would love to send you a thank you note.
