Hey y’all, I’m Shania Belcher, a 19-year-old student who was just trying to build a better future through Detroit Job Corps until everything fell apart.

On Thursday, they told us we had 30 days before Detroit Job Corps would be shut down. We were devastated — but at least we thought we had time.

Then outta nowhere, on Friday, they told us we had to leave IMMEDIATELY. No 30 days. No support. No plan. Just pack your stuff and go.

Now dozens of us are:

    •    Displaced or homeless

    •    Without jobs, food, or access to education

    •    Mentally stressed, emotionally broken, and unsure what to do next

Why I’m Doing This:

I created this GoFundMe to raise money for the students who were blindsided by this shutdown, especially those who don’t have homes or families to fall back on. The funds will help us get:

    •    Emergency housing

    •    Food, clothes, and hygiene products

    •    A resource-based student gathering on June 7th so we can reconnect, heal, and get help

    •    Transportation and tools to continue our dreams

This isn’t just a fundraiser. This is our lifeline.

We came to Job Corps to rise up and become better. Please don’t let this be the end of our story. Every dollar you give helps bring us one step closer to safety, hope, and stability.
