Imagine not being able to see! An estimated 20 million people worldwide are blind from bilateral cataracts.
My name is Tha Dah Say. I am a sophomore at e3 Civic High in San Diego. I recently became a U.S. citizen. I was born in a refugee camp in Thailand. I am hoping to give back. I am raising money to fund cataract surgeries in Honduras. Unite for Sight funds medical missions to Ghana, India and Honduras. The programs are locally led and managed. Outreach services are brought to the people in their villages that are in some cases seven or more hours from the clinics.
An operation costs approximately $15 (compared with $4000 in the U.S.).
I am hoping to raise enough money to fund 200 operations and hope to go on the medical mission next summer to assist. Here is a sample mission:
Please consider funding one or more surgeries.
Although cataracts are found in all global populations, remote regions of low-income countries are disproportionately burdened because of inadequate medical infrastructure. Despite the availability of surgery, up to 90% of patients in developing countries remain blind.
Please make a difference with me. Seeing is everything. I am grateful for every dollar you can contribute.
