My name is Della Payne, and I am raising funds on behalf of my mother, Diane Crump.
Recently, Diane received a devastating diagnosis of glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. Diane has chosen palliative care--wishing to spend her remaining time at home, surrounded by love and her three beloved dachshunds, Polly, Pipi, and Percy.
Unfortunately, the hospitalization, tests, and now in-home healthcare Diane needs are not sufficiently funded by Medicare. The costs outweigh what our family can manage alone. The funds raised by this campaign will go directly towards supporting care and support that will allow Diane to live out her days in peace and dignity.
Diane has lived an extraordinary life-one marked by courage, compassion, and a trailblazing spirit. In 1969, she made history as the first woman jockey to ever race professionally in the United States, and again in 1971, when she became the first woman to ride in the Kentucky Derby.
After her racing career, she turned her passion and knowledge of horses into her current business, Diane Crump Equine Sales, helping connect buyers and owners in the sporthorse world. Along the way, Diane built lifelong friendships and memories that she still cherishes.
In more recent years, Diane devoted herself to animal assisted therapy, volunteering in hospitals and nursing homes with her dachshunds (the 3 Ps). Through this ministry, she has brought joy, comfort, and healing to countless people in the Winchester and Northern Virginia communities.
Anyone who knows Diane knows her huge heart, unwavering faith, and indomitable spirit. Even in the face of this diagnosis, she continues to inspire with grace and love.
If you have been touched by Diane's kindness, friendship, or legacy-or if her story moves you-please consider donating and sharing her campaign to give her the end of life care she deserves.
Your support means more than we can express. Thank you for helping Diane in this final chapter of her life.
With gratitude,
