Mary Diana Cheeks, is our dear friend, and a mother of 4 who left her native St. Lucia decades ago with one mission—to create a better life for her children. Over the years, she worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aide tirelessly. Her kindness, positive spirit and warmth were felt by many. Over time she sent for her children one by one, determined to give them opportunities she never had.
But Diana’s (as many refer to her) story has been marked by heartbreak. Soon after she brought her youngest son to America, her eldest son tragically was killed by a drunk driver 3 weeks before he was to join them. Subsequently, in the years to follow more challenges arose from her youngest daughter facing legal trouble and being sent back to St. Lucia and Diana herself suffering a stroke at the age of 60.
In recent weeks, tragedy has struck once again in Diana’s life. Her youngest daughter, seeking refuge from violence in St. Lucia went to Martinique. Her eldest daughter, Noble left her home in the Atlanta area to search for her. While in Martinique, Noble unexpectedly passed away from a massive heart attack at just 46 years old.
Diana and her family have been torn apart by loss, displacement, and hardship. Yet, she remains strong in faith and hope, but she has too much pride and fight to ask all of us for support. Diana is always the person who has been there to support others, now is our moment to support her as she and her family fight to rebuild—emotionally, spiritually, and financially.
Your kindness can help us with medical expenses, funeral costs, and the stability needed to care for the children left behind. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps to reduce the burdens that Diana carries.
As people who care deeply for Diana and consider her a part of our family, we thank you for standing with her during this painful chapter.
