Hi,

I'm Deylis, founder of Tu Dream—an organization with a goal of supporting schools by helping to provide the necessary resources for adequate learning, nourishment assistance, and creating effective and engaging extra-curricular activities.

Tu Dream’s initial project has taken us to Los Chilamates, where I was born and lived for the first 10 years of my life. Los Chilamates is a small town in the municipality of Santiago De La Frontera, located in the second largest city of El Salvador, known as Santa Ana. We visited Centro Escolar Los Chilamates, and found a few areas where Tu Dream could help. After a thorough discussion with the school staff and community moms, it was clear the first project to tackle was adequate nourishment for all students. Although the government provides the dry ingredients, in rural areas, the community is responsible for ensuring the meals are cooked for the children daily.

The moms of the Canton play a crucial role in ensuring the children get adequate nourishment on time. Daily, they rotate the cooking duties for the classrooms, obtaining the items from the school to prepare at their homes and at times using their own sourced food and condiments to finish the meal preparations. The school has a built kitchen, but it needs a major renovation due to its current unhygienic and unsafe condition.

Tu Dream wants to take on the project of not only renovating it, but we want to give the community a fully equipped kitchen with all the necessary appliances needed for food preparation and storage. Additionally, we want to provide the children with a new eating area equipped with tables and chairs. We are excited in making this first project a dream come true for the children, the community, and the school. This is a small step towards a great impact, and we need your help.
