On Friday, May 30th, our beloved Derrick Lee Vigil tragically lost his life in a boating accident at Pueblo State Park Reservoir. What began as a fishing trip with friends turned into an unthinkable tragedy when their boat capsized. While others made it to shore, Derrick did not. His sudden passing has left an irreplaceable hole in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.

Derrick was more than a husband, father, son, brother, and friend — he was a light in this world. He had a way of making everyone around him smile.. He lived life with passion and presence, embracing every moment.

He loved the outdoors — fishing and biking — and was always up for a game of cards or just quality time with family. Whether he was playing on the floor with his little girls, or just sitting on the porch talking with Larissa, his wife and soulmate, Derrick did everything with love.

He was a devoted father to Delilah and Teddy, two beautiful young daughters who adored their daddy beyond words. He was their hero, their protector, and their greatest source of joy. He worked tirelessly to support his little family, always putting their needs before his own. To Larissa, he was not only a husband but a partner in every sense — nurturing, strong, loyal, and loving. Their bond was deep and true.

Derrick was also a cherished son to his mother and father, and an incredible brother who brought laughter and strength into the life of his sister whom he adored. His presence will be missed in countless ways, and every ordinary day made brighter by his spirit.
