Meet Demi,
Around 9 years ago she received a call from a former classmate and she had informed her that Demi’s sister had been involved with the classmates brother and they were both on drugs, no longer able to care for her 3 nieces and nephew. They gave her a few block radius of where the kids were, as her sister had dropped them off a few days prior with a babysitter. After going door to door for a few hours she finally located the kids, took them all home and received emergency custody and then full custody of all four of them while being a single mom to her own 5 children. She never second guessed taking on the responsibility! Since then they haven’t heard much of anything from either of the children’s parents, Demi’s dad also fell ill. After his second stroke left him limited on movement he asked her to move in with him, bring all 9 of his grandkids too. Demi made a few alterations to the house that her and her siblings were raised in to accommodate everyone. Her Dad passed in 2020, with no will. Even though he was verbal about wanting the house kept in the family, her two remaining sisters have fought her tooth and nail to get there cut of the house Due to the world now the house is estimated to be well over the price it was when her father passed away. Mind you, one of these sisters is the mom to the 4 children Demi is raising with no child support and still wants nothing to do with them. Not only that, she was advised to not update or repair unless necessary so the home needs some work. We are asking for help for Demi now because they are facing homelessness because of our system and her sisters failing her. All 10 of them and 4 pets. There isn’t much out there to fit a family of their size. Even more so there isn’t much out there for single income families to afford. She is approved to buy her dads house that she has already been living in this long, paying mortgage on, and raising the 9 kids in but she needs work done on it before she can finalize the paperwork, as well as help on the down payment that she is so close to having! If she can’t accomplish that within the time frame the court gives her, they will need to move. Doing repairs and then buying her home is going to cost more than she has saved. On another note purchasing something new and moving is going to cost more than she has saved as well. There isnt much if anything willing to rent to this large of a family. She only receives child support for 5/9 of the children. She has reached out to many sources for help with all dead ends! If you know Demi, it is to love Demi. She is one of the kindest, hard working souls you could meet. Through all of this she has managed to work a full time job everyday and keep a smile on her face. She has very limited time to get things done. If you can help her out that would be amazing! If you cannot please share this as much as you can!
