"From all the broken, mismatched, unwanted pieces of life, the soul builds its beautiful mosaic."
From my blog, Soul Mosaic
This is a fundraiser to cover book development costs - especially an editor and travel to my home state for fact-checking - so I can then submit this to an agent. The goal is to publish through a mainstream book publisher.
Why ANOTHER book on Sexual Violence and Abuse?
Because until there is no more sexual violence in our world, there will always be traumatized survivors. There are MANY right now. Life has been stolen from them. Yet, reclaiming, healing, finding some peace is possible. And each survivor DESERVES that chance.
But it is a hard road back, and it is one best traveled with allies. Those can come from the stories of other survivors on that same road. Because even if our individual "plot lines" are different, our pain is the same.
Story is medicine. Story has always provided humans with wisdom. Insight. Answers. There may only be a few different plot lines, but there are thousands of stories - thousands of variations on a theme. The history of literature shows us that.
The reason for so many stories? Tolstoy pointed out:
“All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.”_ Leo Tolstoy , Anna Karenina
If there are so many people in pain in so many different ways, then there needs to be many different stories available. That way each person might find the story that best speaks to their own healing needs.
Abuse survivors are like battle-scarred lionesses: Wounded many times, but still able to roar. But they need to know they aren't alone, and to find the right medicine - the right story - for their needs.
That is the purpose of this book.

This book is both "autopsy" and "obligation." An autopsy of my life through 28 years of childhood and young-adult sexual, emotional, psychological, and physical abuse, through despair, healing, and then a slow reclaiming of life...a rich life despite the past.
It is also my honor...my obligation, to share the story willingly, in case it can help even one person.
I am now in my elder years, and while I have many scars, still, I can roar...and THRIVE.
