Support Deb's Recovery After Tragic Dog Attack
Donation protected
It is with a heavy heart that I share the tragic event that occurred on February 18th, 2025. My mom, Deb Grima spent months searching for a new dog to bring love and joy back into her and my dad's home following the loss of their beloved dog, Duke. My mom’s dream of finding a new companion turned into a nightmare.
My mom has always had a deep love for animals, and after Duke passed, she missed the warmth of cuddles, the joy of walks, and the companionship only a dog could provide. After countless let downs, she found an ad for a Rottweiler in need of a home. On February 18th, she and my Dad welcomed the dog and his owners into their home for a meet-and-greet. What happened next was the last thing anyone would have expected; the dog lunged and attacked my mom. She suffered heartbreaking facial injuries, including her bottom lip torn off, part of her nostril severed, and damage to her cheek muscles. She was rushed to Windsor Metropolitan Hospital and then transferred to London for plastic surgery evaluation. Unfortunately, the doctors were unable to reattach her lip, resulting in 4 hours and over 60 stitches to begin the steps of repairing the damage to her face.
The road to recovery for my mom will involve reconstructive surgeries, travel and ongoing care. In these early stages, we are only beginning to understand the financial toll that lies ahead, on top of the emotional strain on my Mom and our family. It’s difficult to ask for help however, we want to do everything we can to support my mom.
All funds raised will go directly toward my mom’s medical bills. We are incredibly grateful for any support or prayers you can offer and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
