Hi, my name is Tammy and I'm raising funds for my only sister, Deb, and my disabled nephew, Jordan. It's been a very difficult few years for our family. We lost our dad in 2019, step-dad in 2021, and our mom Kathy, and my sister's husband, Todd, in 2022. That leaves just us. Jordan has been disabled since he was 3 months old, when his biological father left him in a hot car to go to a job interview. Jordan suffered heat stroke and "died" twice, and by the loving, healing hands of God, Jordan was revived. He spent two weeks in an oxygen bubble in the hospital and another month "recovering" before he was allowed to go home. He suffered severe brain damage and has taken medicine several times daily ever since for seizures. He's been under my sister Deb's care ever since. Deb's husband passed away in 2022 from two different types of cancer, so it's just Deb and Jordan now.
Deb is Jordan's paid caregiver, but recently was advised by the county that because Jordan is in his 30s now, putting him in a disabled home with others would be in the best interest of both him and Deb. Deb was eventually convinced to let him move into a disabled care home. As of that day, she no longer was being paid as his certified PCA, so her income ended. She had another job lined up to start shortly thereafter, but only four days after Jordan was placed in the home, he was a victim of physical abuse by the staff at the disability home. With bruises on his arms, a fractured elbow, and emotional trauma, Jordan was pulled out of there as soon as Deb received a phone call from him, crying and begging to go home.
The facility never contacted my sister about the abuse despite them being mandatory reporters of any suspected abuse. Deb contacted the authorities to report the situation. There was an investigation and the abusing staff was fired. The county attorney is pressing charges on the staff involved in the abuse of Jordan. Jordan was terribly traumatized and is still dealing with nightmares and an unwillingness to get out of the car, even to go into a grocery store or doctor out of fear he'll not get to go home again.
At this time, the county is still working to get her set back up to be paid as his certified PCA. She was unable to take the job she had lined up due to Jordan's constant care needs, so she's been without a paycheck for almost two months.
Deb has now lost her vehicle and recently received an eviction notice on her home due to the delay with the county's efforts in getting her set up again to be Jordan's PCA.
She is expected to be set up again within the next couple of weeks, but won't receive a paycheck for at least three weeks after that. She can get her vehicle back if she makes up the missed payments and the eviction notice will be rescinded once she pays her missed payments up through August.
Your help is desperately needed and sincerely appreciated. I pray any help you can provide comes back to you ten-fold.
God bless you.
Tammy (Deb's sister and Jordan's auntie)
