Deana is currently recovering from surgery due to Esophageal cancer and unable to work. Deana works for the American Red Cross but has been unable to work for over four months due to treatment and surgery with a projected return to work date in August if she is cleared by her doctors.

(Esophageal cancer is a disease where cancer cells form in the esophagus, the tube connecting your throat to your stomach. There are two main types: adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Symptoms often don't appear until the cancer is advanced, but can include difficulty swallowing, chest pain, weight loss, and persistent heartburn, according to the American Cancer Society)

Since being off work her FMLA has expired, and the American Red Cross has revoked her medical insurance. Deana’s car is currently not working and she struggles to find rides to and from Indianapolis for follow up appointments.

Last week additional tragedy struck when Deana’s boyfriend Roosevelt (RoRo) McNeil was struck and killed by a vehicle just one block from his home on Weinbach Ave. Per news sources the drivers was sited as saying he did not have insurance at the time of the accident. Officers also found marijuana in the vehicle leading them to believe the drivers was possibly intoxicated at the time of the accident.
