My grandson Dax is 13 years old, level 3 autistic, nonverbal, and struggles with very aggressive behaviors. My son, his father, is a single parent who provides around-the-clock care for Dax, as his mother is not in his life. For the past eight years, they have lived together in an apartment, but over the last three years, Dax's violent outbursts have become more severe, resulting in extensive damage to their home. He has kicked out all the walls and doors, and now the apartment is no longer safe, with exposed wiring and a compromised railing on the second level.

Their landlord is threatening to evict them because of the condition of the apartment, and I am their only support system. As a grandmother on a fixed income, I am unable to help with the costly repairs needed to keep a roof over their heads. The list of damages includes replacing six interior doors, repairing sheetrock on both floors, and fixing or replacing appliances like the dishwasher and stove. All of these damages are a result of Dax's condition, and my son is doing everything he can to care for him while trying to maintain their home.
