As you may know, my sister Dawn has stage 4 Pancreatic cancer. She has been fighting this for the past two years now. She took both her short and long-term disability leave from work to undergo chemo and other medical treatments. Once those covered leaves were exhausted she was terminated from her job. This left her to pay out-of-pocket for insurance with very little disability income. Dawn can no longer walk and is in and out of the hospital these days. They’re struggling to pay their regular household bills, as well as pay for her meds and daily care. On top of having cancer, Dawn and her husband are raising her 16-year-old grandson who helps her with everything. They could really use some help.
