Hi, my name is Dawn and I am sooo close to finishing the tiny home for my toddler son and myself. I ordered a customized shed and we’ve been turning it into a home with the help of very caring family and friends and even a couple kind strangers. Thank you all!!

Truthfully, I’ve been interested in tiny homes for years so I’m really excited and grateful that it’s working out. It feels like a perfect stepping stone - a safe, stable and cozy home for my son to grow in, and when we need more space we can sell or lease it and the profits can contribute to our next home.

The drywall should be done and painted sometime this week and then it’s on to installing tile and wood flooring and doors and just making it comfy and pretty.

It’s so important that I provide a stable home for my son. The average 1 bedroom apartment in the closest city to me is $1200 monthly and rent increases average about 10% annually. Meanwhile my costs have increased with daycare and raising a human being, but my income has decreased drastically since becoming a mom so paying half my income on rent would mean being deficient in other areas. The best solution I could imagine was a tiny home I would be able to pay off within 5 years, with monthly payments 40% lower than local rent costs. The initial cost of all these materials has been tough but omg it’s going to be so nice next year to not have to worry about money as much.

Most of the materials are already waiting inside the building. I have all the flooring, bathroom tile, bathroom vanity and sink, toilet, light fixtures, kitchen sink and more.
