Help Darryl & Taylor Find a Home

Donation protected
Darryl approached me two years ago when I was doing workforce development training at Essex Community College in Newark. He was looking for a mentor and was determined to break the chain of poverty and provide a better life for his five year old son. At first I was a little reluctant but then my faith kicked-in and I realized I had the opportunity to pay-it-forward and help this young man change the direction of his life.  As I got to know Darryl I learned that he had been homeless since he was 14; abandoned by his mother and a biological father who wanted no part if his life.

Fast forward to today and Darryl has made great progress. He recently took a leap of faith and left the city of Newark to move to northwest NJ. He found full-time work in the construction industry and has enrolled Taylor in an excellent pre-k program, which he is currently paying for out of pocket.  Darryl and Taylor have been living with my family temporarily but he needs to find his own place to live before Taylor starts school is September. Since there is no bus system in the community he has been relying on my family and co-workers to get rides to and from work and to transport his son to daycare.

Although he has done SO much to change his life over the last 18 months, this is only the beginning of his journey. Darryl is determined to give his son the best life possible but could use a little help along the way, as he no family or support system to rely on. The contributions he receives through Go-Fund Me will provide Darryl with enough money for one year’s rent and will allow him to buy a cheap but reliable car, so he is able to drive Taylor to school and himself to work. This will also give him the opportunity to start a savings account with the money he is making at work, as well as pay for utilities, furniture, food, clothing and healthcare etc.

Once Darryl gets on his feet he plans to start a foundation that would spread peace and help others who struggle.

"Sometimes miracles are just kind people with good hearts."

Thank you and please share with your family, friends and anyone you think would want to share their blessings and pay-it-forward!!!
