My name is Darren, and for over a year I’ve dedicated my life to working with nonprofits across the country. I’ve traveled to Texas to support Planned Parenthood, to D.C. for Save the Children and the ACLU, and to North Carolina for Doctors Without Borders and Defenders of Wildlife. I’m proud to have won the award for most annual donations received in my first month with Save the Children, and I have photos from every state and organization I’ve worked with. My work is my passion, and I’ve always believed in fighting for causes that matter.

Recently, I saved up to buy a car so I could keep making a difference, but unfortunately, I was sold a lemon. Despite spending everything I had on repairs, the car finally broke down for good, and I had to sell it for a fraction of what I paid. Without reliable transportation, I lost a job opportunity in North Carolina and have struggled to keep up with my nonprofit work. Now, with my first child on the way at 42, everything I do is for my baby. I want to set a strong example and make sure my child never has to face the same struggles. A reliable car would allow me to get to work sites on time, pick up a second job like DoorDash or Uber Eats to cover daily expenses, and prepare for my baby’s arrival—things that just aren’t possible with public transportation.
