Hello, my name is Jessie and I am posting on behalf of my mother, Dara. Please read her message here:
My family is going through a very difficult time, and I’m asking for help to prevent us from losing the few belongings we have left.
My boyfriend suffers from lupus, a serious autoimmune illness that has caused ongoing health complications and has made it difficult for him to maintain steady work. While he has been dealing with this, I have been caring for him and raising my autistic son, while working various jobs whenever possible to support our family.
During the process of trying to apply for disability benefits for my boyfriend, the financial strain unfortunately caused us to lose our home. We had to place our belongings in a storage unit in Mississippi while we tried to stabilize our situation.
We recently relocated to Texas, where my daughter lives, hoping to rebuild and create a more stable future. Right now, we are staying in a hotel while doing everything we can to secure housing and get back on our feet.
Unfortunately, we have run out of funds to pay the storage unit where our belongings are being kept. The storage facility has informed us that if the payment is not made before the 12th of this month, our items will be auctioned.
These belongings include important personal items and the few things we still have from our home. Losing them would make starting over even more difficult.
Right now our goal is $450 to cover the unit, late fees, and processing fees. Any support—no matter how small—would mean so much to our family and would help us prevent the loss of our belongings while we work toward stability again. Thank you for your kindness and for taking the time to read this.
