HELP DANNY BE AN UPSTANDING SINGL PARAPLEGIC DAD

Donation protected
Hi :) My name is Jeanette Sterling. DANIEL PONCE is my cousin. Danny sustained a spinal cord injury from an ATV accident that left him a paraplegic almost 7 years ago.

Before the accident, Danny worked full time as a Respiratory Therapist. He was active and very involved with his sons. He recently became a single dad. His sons are truly amazing. They are sweet and so willing to help at home. I recently spent time with Danny in his home in Florida and was able to observe how difficult it is for him try to line himself up sideways alongside the stove, refrigerator, cabinets, washing machine and dryer in his wheelchair, in order to perform the cooking and cleaning in a kitchen that in not made for a paraplegic person. Twisting his body to perform these task causes a strain on his back muscles. A large section of his spine is fused making it impossible to turn sideways like an able-bodied person could. Mostly, he experiences pain and discomfort after performing these task. His mom and dad visit and help but they cannot do everything. A standup chair would help Danny be so much more independent in his home. It would also help him reach top shelves at the grocery store when he's grocery shopping for his family. Also, he won't have to depend so much on his family or have to wait until someone is home to help him.

Another important and more serious factor is secondary complications from prolonged sitting. Able-bodied people are told not to sit too long because it can cause health issues. Twelve hours a day of sitting increases Danny's chances for heart disease, diabetes, pressure sores, poor circulation, blood clots, bladder/bowel dysfunction, UTIs, etc. Danny should be standing ten (10) times a day for at least three (3) minutes each time to prevent all these complications. Having a standup chair will help prevent these complications that can make life more challenging and complicated.

His life is not easy and he deals with a lot of pain and discomforts on a daily basis. There are times this keeps him in bed. A standup chair will help make his life a little easier. He is such a strong man. He has been through so much and still manages to be silly, fun, a great sense of humor, stays positive and loves the Lord. He is a great dad and so loved by his family.

I insisted/challenged him to a billiard game and could not understand why he was so hesitant. He loves playing billiard and he is good at it. It was hard for me to watch him twisting and turning and see just how difficult and how limited he is. He was not able to finish the game.

There is so much more I can say but I will end it this way ....
To be able to stand up once in a while and look at people eye to eye ... MAN! I would love that for Danny.

Please help bless Danny.
