I have never used GoFundMe and was very hesitant to do this, but some opportunities are worth it. As many of you know, I’m currently finishing a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) program and was recently presented the opportunity to participate in a medical mission trip to Honduras as an anesthesia provider. I would be honored to use my abilities as a CRNA to provide quality surgical care to an underserved part of the world. The hospital I would be serving at is Holy Family Surgery Center in connection with the Nuestros Pequrños Hermanos children’s home which is about one hour from Honduras’ capital of Tegucigalpa. I would be traveling with a team of surgeons, other anesthesia providers, nurses, and other ancillary healthcare staff for one week caring for both pediatric and adult patients. We will mainly perform orthopedic surgeries, but also general surgery, ophthalmology, gynecology, urology, dental, surgical oncology, and ear, nose, and throat procedures. This mission, in partnership with One World Surgery, states “we are dedicated to providing world-class surgical and primary care to underserved communities, as well as empowering volunteers to make a positive impact on global health.” As you can imagine, access to basic healthcare in Honduras is challenging for most living in the country, but surgery centers like Holy Family continue to operate with our support.

That’s where you come in :) I’m prepared to contribute to the cost of this trip, but having spent the last three years in full-time school/residency makes it difficult to cover the full amount. I’m reaching out to family and friends like you to help cover flight cost, medical supplies, lodging, and food. This mission will take place 7/24/21 – 7/31/21 and I will need to raise $2,000.
