Hi Family, Friends, and community,
I would like to ask if you would please help us in showing our support to Danielle’s Family during this time as we share the heartbreaking information of Danielle Mascarello, a loving mother who tragically passed away June 2nd, 2023, as she was declared brain dead. This tragedy is unbelievable, but if we come together, we can offer our love, strength, and financial assistance to help her children.
June 1st, 2023 Danielle went to her Obstetrics office for a routine cervical Biopsy. She would later die there. From the information we have gathered from the EMT’s that worked to get her heart back and the amazing emergency staff at Saint Luke’s Hospital, After the biopsy, Danielle was told she was all done and could get dressed and they would contact her about her results. She never came out of the room. We are not sure how long it was before someone found her as the OB office is not communicating with the family. We were told she was found hunched over with the foot stirrup lodged against her throat and no heartbeat. The doctors assume she tried to get up and fainted and instead of falling off the bed onto the floor, she fell onto the foot stirrups that were left up and folded out and is what cut off her oxygen to her brain. EMT’s worked for 10 minutes to get her pulse back and then was transported to Saint Luke’s Hospital. While in the hospital they realized she had internal bleeding from her liver that was punctured from the chest compressions from a broken rib, when being transported to surgery to repair the liver she went into cardiac arrest. The first night was tough not knowing if she wasn’t going to make it. She stabilized and was transported for surgery and after they repaired her liver and stopped the bleeding, they conducted the brain scans and test, and it was determined that there was no brain activity and she was pronounced brain dead on June 2nd 2023.
Her family fought hard to get other opinions and test done to see if there was any hope, and for the peace of mind of knowing they tried everything before they would have to let her go. Every review and test showed the same result that she did not have any brain activity. From there the family worked to honor Danielle’s wishes of having her organs donated. With her family finally having to say their last goodbyes Danielle was transported to the operating room and had four viable organs harvested and placed with four different individuals, giving them the chance of living a longer life.
Danielle, was an amazing person and had so many people that needed and depended on her. She was so supportive and always the first person that you could count on. She worked hard to get to a place where she was happy and able to provide for her family and herself, despite having many obstacles from a tough life she overcame it all and came out better than she could have ever hoped for. Her absence will forever leave a hole in many people’s lives that will never be filled.
During this tough time, we are trying to help Danielle’s family’s financial burdens by launching this GoFundMe campaign. Your generous contributions will directly support the children’s needs. Together, we can help alleviate this burden, ensuring that her children have the resources they need to heal and try to find a way to navigate this new life without their mother.
Danielle leaves behind her 3 children, Anthony and Aiden Riccard from a previous marriage, (their father who has passed previously) and her daughter Sophia whom she shares with her fiancé Joseph Wood.
Outside of financial contributions, we respectfully request your continued prayers, love, and support. Your generosity will make a huge difference in the lives of Anthony, Aiden and Sophia.
