Hello! I’m excited to announce I was selected to study abroad in Taiwan through my graduate social work program at the University of Houston for two weeks this summer in May 2026. This program will help me grow both personally and professionally. I am asking for help raising $3,800 to cover travel and program expenses. There are a few competitive scholarships available through the university, and I plan on applying to them. However, there are expenses for the program which have to be paid upfront. If I do receive a scholarship, all funds raised will go towards paying my summer tuition, which isn’t covered by my federal loans since they only apply for fall and spring.

This opportunity will allow me to learn about international social work firsthand, develop my skills as a social worker, expand my lived experience, and build on my personal goals (e.g., establishing a global mindset, expanding communication). Additionally, this will count towards an elective credit for the summer. I have to complete two elective credits and one core class this summer to finish my MSW program in August of this year.

A little about me, I am currently in my second of three semesters pursuing my Master’s in Social Work. I have traveled to a variety of different places, mostly in the US to expand my lived experience. This study abroad opportunity would mark the beginning of my final semester of my graduate program. Any support, big or small, will help make this experience possible.
