After losing my mother three weeks ago, life has changed in so many ways. She was my favorite person—goofy, loyal, and always there for me. One of my favorite memories is from a car ride together: as we drove through patches of shade and sunlight, she would sing out 'shady' or 'sunny' depending on where we were. It was such a simple, silly thing, but it made me laugh so hard and reminded me how much joy she brought to everyday moments.
Since her passing, I’ve been relying on my electric scooter to get to work, but with winter coming, it’s becoming less safe and reliable. My commute is about four miles each way, and public transit isn’t a good option—it would mean two buses and a long walk in the cold. Rideshares are too expensive to use regularly. Having a car would make a huge difference, not just for getting to work, but for supporting my family. I want to be able to help with errands, appointments, or just give someone a ride when they need to get out of the house, just like my mom used to do for us.
This fundraiser is about more than just transportation—it’s about honoring my mother’s memory by being there for my family, the way she always was for me. Any support will help me stay connected to work and to the people I love, especially as we navigate this difficult time.
