Hi everyone!

My name is Daniela, and I am trying to start an organization to help people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity to feel seen, heard, and safe. I will do so by providing goods like socks, shoes, blankets, food, and personal hygiene products. In order to do so, I need a starting fund. I plan on putting my own money in as well, but to get it to the scale I want, I need your help.

The plan!

Once we hit our goal, I will find bulk items such as wool socks, hats, fleece blankets, and nonperishable foods. When we have everything, we will donate to shelters, as well as out and about to people we see. This is a work in progress, but the most important thing to know is that your money directly goes to the purchase of goods for people to stay warm and fed.

Why?

While I have always been very involved in volunteer work and learning about social issues, including the housing insecurity crisis in the U.S., this summer really pushed me to want to do something more. After a lovely night out on the town with some friends, I met a man named Perry, who had been homeless for a while now and had many stories to tell. Over some Taco Bell, we discussed what it's like to be ignored; every day, people walk past Perry as he asks for help. He says he would much prefer if someone said no than nothing at all. I am not a religious person myself, but Perry said he prays for the people who walk right by him. By donating to my cause, you are helping people like Perry feel seen.
