Help Daniel Fight Cancer & Keep His Home

Sometimes life throws unimaginable challenges at the most amazing people. This fundraiser is being organized on behalf of our cousin, Daniel Reyes, who suddenly fell ill in March with anemia and pneumonia, which led to him learning that he had a dangerously low white blood cell count. Since then, he has been hospitalized for several days at a time and has undergone multiple blood transfusions.

Daniel is 32 years old and facing a battle no one should ever have to fight—lymphoma, a type of cancer affecting his white blood cells and compromising his immune system and other organs.

For those who know him, you know how full of life he was just a few months ago. A diagnosis like this was unexpected and life-altering. Before this, Daniel lived a life of movement, freedom, and adventure. He worked as a contractor for FedEx, a physically demanding job he did with quiet strength. Outside of work, he found peace in nature with his dog, Stella—his “soul dog” and a constant companion.

He played basketball, went to the gym, and explored the outdoors whenever he could - he was quite the avid off-trail hiker! His body was his tool, his escape, and his identity.

He was strong, independent, and full of dreams. But this illness has turned his world upside down. He’s now grieving the life he once had and it’s been physically and emotionally overwhelming.

Daniel has always been the type of person who never asked for help. But now, he needs us.

How You Can Help & What the Funds Will Help With:

That’s why we’re reaching out to extended family, friends, our respective communities, and kind strangers—anyone who can help carry even a small part of this heavy burden off his shoulders.

We’re raising $10,000 to help cover the cost of his ongoing medical care and treatments (first chemotherapy session was on 4/11), allow him the time he needs to recover without the financial stress of unpaid bills, and to simply help him keep a roof over his head. Funds will also help cover his essential living costs while he is unable to return to work. Your support can help him hold onto hope for the life still ahead.
