Help Dan Recover from Brain Surgery
Donation protected
My name is Dan and I was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor on my right side. This all started because I had dropped a heavy part (50-70lbs) on my foot. When I went to get it checked out I thought it would be convenient to talk to the doctor about my neck problems and how I thought they were causing the weakness of my right arm. CT scans of my neck and head revealed what the doctors thought was evidence of a stroke in the right side of my brain, however, that didn't make sense because the weakness was on my right side and we know that the right brain controls left and left controls right. MRIs were then ordered and it was found that it was a tumor. I've had several CT scans for my neck and even more MRIs for my brain since then, including a functional MRI. My surgeon is confident with being aggressive with treatment and removal of the tumor because of my age. The surgery is April 14, 2025 and even though the tumor will be removed, it's far from over; I'll then have an estimated 4-6 week recovery time depending on my post-op exams. Not only that but I'll have to wait several weeks for microscopy and genetic testing of the tumor to determine whether it's cancerous or benign. There is also the chance that I'll have some facial drooping on my left side.
Sure, I will be collecting from the state on CT FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) but it's not my whole paycheck. I'm here asking for help to cover what will be missing so that some financial strain can be relieved and I can focus on healing.
No matter what you donate thank you so much. If for some reason you cannot donate, I'm still thankful for you taking the time to read my story.
