Hi,

My name is Oli and on Saturday 5th September, my friend Aidan and I will be taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for our very good friend, Dan Arnold, and his fiancée.

The challenge involves climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales — Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon — all within 24 hours. In total, we'll be tackling over 3,000 metres of ascent, covering approximately 23 miles on foot and 450 miles by road.

 

We will be funding all of our own travel, accommodation, food, equipment, and other costs, meaning every penny donated will go directly to Dan and his fiancée.

 

Dan's Story

In June 2022, Dan was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.  Since then, he has shown incredible strength and courage through multiple rounds of treatment, countless hospital appointments, and long stays in hospital. Tragically, despite everything he has endured, the cancer has returned aggressively on three separate occasions.

 

As part of his treatment, Dan underwent a knee replacement and several rounds of chemotherapy in an attempt to stop the disease. When these treatments were unsuccessful, he was faced with the unimaginable decision to have his leg amputated. Despite this life-changing surgery and everything he has been through, the cancer continued to progress.

 

Most recently, Dan received the devastating news that the cancer has spread to his lungs and that his illness is now terminal. This has been an incredibly difficult and heartbreaking time for Dan, his fiancée, and everyone who loves and cares about them.
