Help Damian Heal and Keep His Family Afloat

Hello everyone, please meet Damian❤️! Damian is a 21-year-old wonderful first-time father to our beautiful little girl Skylar, who is about to be one on the 19th! He is also the sole provider for our family after complications during pregnancy made my physical health too unstable to return to my EMT job since having to go on leave at 6 months pregnant in May of 2024, i’m working very hard with doctors to get everything sorted as i wanted to start going back to work after skylar turned 1 anyways but we just aren’t there yet. We then made the choice that inevitably I would be a stay-at-home mom once our baby was born while Damian worked his 50+ hours a week, 2 pm till 12:30 am every day plus commute time, overtime, barely seeing his family but making that sacrifice knowing he wanted to provide the most and best he could for his family.
On June 10th, 2025, Damian's leg was pinned between a 3,000lb standing forklift and a metal beam, crushing his leg severely while at work. Following that has been weeks of hardship on our family, now going on a month. Unfortunately, as we have done everything in our power, reported the injury, went to the hospital via ambulance from the workplace, and have followed up with all care plans, etc., he is being refused pay which baffles me, but insurance companies reserve the rights to do so making it a fight.
due to no one taking his symptoms seriously or his pain seriously soon enough i drove him to the hospital for a second opinion where he was shortly after admitted into Jefferson Bucks Hospital where we were told not only would he most likely need surgery (which they ended up not performing as they were going to transport him to Jefferson Torresdale's Trauma Center to do it and talk further but realized it had already been a week since the injury date, worried it could do more harm than good, they decided against it) but on top of the severity of his leg injury getting worse, he also started experiencing kidney damage which explained the increasing pain and unusual look to him that we had been trying to tell doctors for days leading up to the hospital stay. They are now revisiting the idea for surgery as Damian’s leg still has yet to move in the direction of healing but they will be running a whole new set of test before finally determining it and we have a consult with a jefferson orthopedic surgeon end of july. Damian has a very large hematoma pressing on the back of his calf, making it impossible to walk without assistance from crutches and now recently a cane due to the location and size of the hematoma that could take an upward of 3-6 months to heal from, plus the muscle and nerve damage he’s suffered.
As Damian and I talked, we realized how truly financially unstable we had become and how much worse it’ll become as he heals at home with zero income. Our rent is $2.1K a month, and we have $1,000 in bills already accumulated from not being able to keep up from the time of injury. That’s after I paid everything I could towards bills and last month’s rent from doing delivery orders while Damian slept, bringing our daughter along and doing whatever I could to help out our family even when it meant i had to reach out to family and ask for financial help but no matter what still be there for Damian’s needs in this rough time. I, as a partner, have obviously taken on the responsibility of caring for my family, not just my daughter now but now also my boyfriend too full time for basic life things that you don’t realize how grateful you are to be able to do it until that ability is taken away. i’m managing as much as i can and then some with very little to no help when it comes to having someone to watch our daughter as my dad is the only one that really can help out, making it hard for me to work, especially when Damian is unable to care for our child or himself at this time. I can only take on so much; and right now, my priority is just focusing on helping Damian recover and adjust to this difficult time of not being able to do anything himself, and taking care of my daughter, household, and keeping track of a million and one different doctors appointments.
We make this to ask friends, family, anyone, if you would please help our family in sharing this post or donating we would be forever grateful. Every thought, every prayer, every penny truly matters to our family in these unforeseen times, so we thank everyone that is able to show us just a bit of support right now. It wasn’t easy to be in a situation where we knew we had to openly admit we were going to need financial help from others because we have done most of this journey with little to no support from anyone and have been so proud of ourselves and take such pride in how far we made it at so young when all the odds were stacked against us in the beginning, and that being in this position, especially with the worst timing, has made it feel like a nightmare we can’t wake up from and that we have no idea when it all will go back to normal. If you have made it this far, thank you for taking the time to read our story. I pray times get better for not just us but for everyone and anyone else who might be struggling right now! Thank you again to any and all support anyone may have to offer in a time like this ❤️
